Description
St Ives is considered to be the 'jewel of the South West' and the sandy shoreline of Porthmeor is a haven for surfers and a firm favourite with families looking for a fun day out by the sea.
At the end of the beach is St Ives Island. Although called an Island it is in fact a peninsula, a grassy knoll offering spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean on three sides and St Ives to the South and West.
On the top if the hill is the small single-roomed stone building if St Nicholas' Chapel. From there it is possible to see the whole town of St Ives as well as all of Porthmeor beach stretching off to the West.
