Description
I love going to Polpeor Cove at Lizard Point, the most southerly point of mainland England with the old lifeboat station sitting above the slipway.
The beach isn't great for laying on as it is made of pebbles and serpentine rocks, it is unsuitable for swimming and difficult to access, probably due to those factors, the wildlife to be seen here is amazing.
Basking sharks and grey seals are regularly seen and dolphins often swim by, but my favourites are the birds, especially Cornish Choughs which are now returning to the area after many years of being nearly extinct in Cornwall.
There is a really good cafe perched on the cliff above the old lifeboat station which is a must to visit too.
