Description
The ruins of Kenidjack Arsenic Works are nestled at the bottom of Kenidjack Valley near Cape Cornwall in the far west of Cornwall.
Arsenic and sulphur contained in the tin which was mined here was detrimental to smelted tin. Burning houses called calciners removed these by burning at high temperatures. The vapour given off during this process condensed on the walls of long stone tunnels called labyrinths and miners would scrape the arsenic deposits off the chamber walls.
