Description
This rock pipet had been for a bath and was preening his feathers and holding his wings out to dry.
Many happy hours have been spent at the coast watching the rock pipits fly up in the air, trilling as the go, then falling back down again as if on a parachute.
The rock pipit is a common bird of rocky beaches, feeding on seeds, small molluscs and invertebrates it finds among the stones. It breeds around the coast and most of our breeding birds are residents.
