Description
Penarrow Gig with St Mawes Castle and yachts.
Penarrow, one of the Mhylor and Flushing pilot gigs, was built in 2006. Her first taste of the sea and maiden voyage came when she was loaded onto the Scillonian ferry at Penzance for the trip to the Scilly Isles for the 2006 World Pilot Gig championships.
Penarrow is named after the point of land between Flushing and Mylor, once called Milor Point, which unites the two villages.
The club has built an enclosure for the gigs close to Kiln Quay, Flushing, from where they are launched down the beach into the harbour. Formed in 2004 F&MPGC now boasts a membership of over 100 rowers and supporters.
