Description
On the water front in St Mawes in Cornwall is an old garage which was once a pilchard store.
The premises have been preserved and the old petrol pumps still stand alongside what was the garage forecourt. The pump globes advertise Shell motor spirit, both Regular and Premium, back in the days of leaded-only fuel, at a time when a lady or gentleman, usually in white overalls, would appear on your arrival and top up your tank as required. The petrol pumps have been preserved with help from Shell and look like they date back to the 1920s or 1930s.
After using it as an artists’ studio the owner donated it to the St. Mawes Gig Club. It now serves as the boathouse for the local gigs
