Artist's Description
The final stages of the construction of The Shard with Canary Wharf in the background.
The history of the Shard dates back to the year 2000.
At 1,016 feet this was the tallest building in Europe for a while, The Shard provides 900,000 square feet comprising office space, hotel, residential apartments, restaurants and viewing galleries with unparalleled views of south east England.
Topping The Shard had to be done in style. The Shard's striking feature, its broken glass spire comprises 1300 pieces of glass and 500 tonnes of steel, which had to be prefabricated and winched into place piece-by-piece using Europe's largest tower crane, often during challenging weather conditions.
The success of the Shard in terms of the level of innovation, design and work by the parties involved can now be clearly seen.

About Terri Waters
Hello, I am Terri Waters, born in London UK in the last century, now happily settled in Mylor Bridge, Cornwall. Every morning when I pull back my curtains there is a whole new day asking to be explored and I can't wait to grab my camera, get on my bicycle and see where the road takes me. As a designer I venture into digital art every now and again. A change is as good as a rest for my legs and my bike. Sometimes an idea pops into my head from nowhere and I can't wait to produce an image to convey it to the outside world. Would you like your own photographs made perfect or your own works of art given a new twist for more variety of prints from your originals?
