Description
The magnificent Gothic cloisters of Salisbury Cathedral were built between 1250-1260's and are the largest of any Cathedral in Britain. Designed for processions the uses were eventually varied and was even used as a prison in the English Civil War.
In the last few years the vaulted ceilings have been re-plastered in preparations for the 800th anniversary celebrations in 2015 of the 1215 Magna Carta which is housed in the Chapter House of the cathedral.
