Description
Gool Peran Lowen! Happy St Piran's Day!
March 5th is St Piran’s Day, which means those looking for a good time better head down to Cornwall as the party can last a week.
The national day of Cornwall is named after the patron saint of tin miners, Saint Piran.
Parades, music, dancing, fairground rides and rugby matches are among the celebrations in various towns, and in Grass Valley, California the day is celebrated to honour the Cornish miners who worked in the area from the mid 19th century onwards.
At 9pm on the dot on St Piran’s day, pubs across Cornwall will break into the ‘Trelawny Shout’, a pub singalong of the Cornish anthem, The Song of the Western Men.
