Description
Near the summit of Carn Brea in Cornwall is Carn Brea Castle, once a hunting lodge owned by the Bassett family, now a restaurant.
Sitting on huge, uncut boulders its origins can be traced back to 1379 where it started life as a humble chapel to St Michael, one of Cornwall’s patron saints.
The stone twin towered fortress is inside the ramparts of the Iron Age hillfort and can be seen from miles around.
The views from the castle are fantastic with both the north and south coasts of Cornwall being visible on a clear day.
