The Lizard Peninsular in Cornwall is almost an island, girded on three sides by the Atlantic Ocean and the fourth by the meandering waters of the Helford river. Lizard point is the furthest point South on the British Mainland. There are sandy beaches and pebbly coves, dramatic cliffs, picturesque rivers and creeks all full of wild life. The Lizard is famous for it's Serpentine rock outcrops and gardens full of sub-tropical plants warmed by the Gulf Stream.
At the end of the winding road from Helston to Lizard Point is the Old Lifeboat house and Polpeor Cafe, the food there is amazing and some dishes can be found in my gallery.
The Lizard lighthouse can be seen on the cliff. It is a landfall and coastal mark giving a guide to vessels in passage along the English Channel and warning of the hazardous waters off Lizard Point.
