At the top of Carn Brea in mid Cornwall is Carn Brea Castle, still a prominent landmark of the skyline regardless of the town of Redruth which has been growing in it's shadow for the last few hundred years.
The Castle, once a shunting lodge owned by the Bassett family, is now a restaurant with stunning views.
Sitting on huge, uncut boulders its origins can be traced back to 1379 where it started life as a humble chapel to St Michael, one of Cornwall’s patron saints.
The stone twin towered fortress is inside the ramparts of the Iron Age hillfort and can be seen from miles around.
The slopes of the carn have their own story to tell. 6,000 years ago, granite walls and ramparts once circled the tors, and the remains are there to this day… along with the sites of Roman and Bronze Age artefacts, Iron Age roundhouses and, legend has it, the petrified bones of the Giant of Carn Brea, John of Gaunt.

Hello, I am Terri Waters, born in London UK in the last century, now happily settled in Mylor Bridge, Cornwall. Every morning when I pull back my curtains there is a whole new day asking to be explored and I can't wait to grab my camera, get on my bicycle and see where the road takes me. Would you like your own photographs made perfect or your own works of art given a new twist for more variety of prints from your originals? Improvements to your own family portrait photographs by adjusting...
