Description
Tregothnan, seen across the top of the ships laid up in the Fal, is the home of the UK’s first tea plantations. It has been in the Boscawen family since John de Boscawen married Joan de Tregothnan in 1334. The family own large areas of woodland throughout Cornwall and Kent.
The stately home sits on a hill above the Fal Estuary in Cornwall and can be seen for miles around. I took this image from the hill above Mylor Bridge, over 15 miles away around the creeks by road but less than 5 as the crow flies.
Tregothnan translated from Cornish, means “The house at the head of the valley”
