Description
The building on the right of this image, taken on a late afternoon walk around Fishing Cove between Porthleven and Gunwalloe, is known as The Cellars.
Records indicate a pilchard industry was already established at Fishing Cove in the early 19th Century and likely dates from at least the previous century. Winches along the cliff edge were used to help bring boats up the beach to get them clear of tides and storms.
