Description
St Wynwallow's Church on the beach of Gunwalloe also known as Church Cove for obvious reasons. This beautiful beach on the Lizard Peninsula in south Cornwall was the location of the night-time ship wrecking scenes for the new Poldark TV series.
This picturesque medieval church with it's Norman font snuggles into the dunes in a vain attempt to protect it from the ferocious storms which often sweep this stretch of the Cornish coast. The church is named for a 5th century Breton saint, who is said to have founded the first church on this site. It is the only church in Cornwall located on a beach.
