Description
The view from the little ferry boat of St Michael's Mount Village Cornwall.
At high tide it's a short boat hop to the island where modern life meets layers of history within the grounds of a medieval castle with a sub-tropical paradise garden.
At low tide a 500m stroll across the granite cobbled causeway from Marazion brings you to the foot of The Mount.
Dominating Mounts Bay the tower, chapel and battlement of the castle are 230 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. Once a fortress, a priory and a harbour it is now home to the modern St Aubyn family who can trace their roots on The Mount back to the 14th century.
