Description
The lychgate, looking out past the heavy wooden gates to the row of thatched cottages on the approach to St Clement Church near Truro in Cornwall.
St Clement Church is approached through a lych gate with a slate hung room above which has had the usual random collection of uses. It was the Parish Vestry Room, where rates were made and relief granted to the poor then later it became the village school. From 1840 – 1872 the downstairs’ room was a pig sty and now, the upstairs room is an artist’s studio.
