Description
Porthoustock is a pretty little hamlet near St Keverne in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom, on the east coast of Lizard Peninsula and lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).Porthoustock originated as a fishing hamlet. However, from the 1890s the village developed as a port for the local stone quarries. There has been quarrying activity in Porthoustock since the late 19th century.
The Manacles (Cornish: Meyn Eglos, meaning church stones) are a set of treacherous rocks off The Lizard peninsula and Porthoustock is a popular launching beach for divers wishing to explore the shipwrecks around them.
