Description
A decision was taken to move the life boat station from Polpeor Cove at Lizard Point Cornwall to the current site, Kilcobben cove just round the cliff because it was sufficiently protected to allow safe launches in all conditions. It was officially opened by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh on 7th July 1961.
In May 2010 this station was demolished to make way for a new station as it could not accommodate the latest Tamar class lifeboat.
A new station was officially opened on 5 May 2012.
