Description
The light was beautiful so I stopped off on my way west to admire the colourful fishing fleet in Newlyn.
Newlyn Harbour is a small village just west of Penzance, in the far south west of Cornwall which is notable for being home to Britain's largest Fishing Fleet.
The industry is one of the most important in the county, contributing millions of pounds to the Cornish economy each year. All sorts of fishing vessels can be seen in the harbour - beam trawlers, long liners, crabbers and even small open boats used for hand-lining for mackerel in the Bay.
The harbour is protected by two relatively large stone walls which many of the larger fishing vessels of the fleet are moored up against.
