The Newhaven Severn-class lifeboat 17–21, David and Elizabeth Acland moored in Falmouth Cornwall.
At 17.3 metres (56 ft 9 in) long, the Severn class lifeboat is the largest lifeboat in the RNLI fleet. Developed in the early 1990s and introduced into the fleet in 1996, the severn class followed a tradition of naming modern lifeboats after rivers, the Severn is named after the longest river in the UK.
