Description
The Hoegh Osaka car transporter ship was heading to Germany when it ran on to the Bramble Bank, in the entrance to Southampton Water, at about 21:30 GMT on Saturday 3rd January 2015.
Four RNLI Lifeboats as well as the Solent Coastguard helicopter were involved in the rescue of the crew.
An attempt to 're-float' the 52,000 tonne cargo ship grounded off the Isle of Wight has failed, meaning it will remain stuck for at least another three days because the tides will not be high enough to re-float her.
Bramble Bank is a well-known sandbank in Southampton Water and is the scene of an annual cricket match between two yachting clubs when the sands are exposed in low spring tides.
