Description
On 16 August 2004, a devastating flood swept through the quaint Cornish village of Boscastle.
A storm caused two rivers to burst their banks and about two billion litres of rain water rushed down the valley, straight through Boscastle, out into the harbour and beyond.
Cars and buildings were swept out to sea but fortunately nobody died. Many took to their rooftops and were rescued by helicopters.
This quaint tea shop looks as if it is at least 300 years old but is actually an exact replica, even down to the the jagged line of the roof ridge, of the tea room that was washed away in the flood.
I have been to Boscastle many times, before and since the flood, and can honestly say the whole village looks the same to me now as it did before the devastation on that awful night.
The builders did an amazing job.
