Description
It was a long shot but I thought it was worth a go.
I was at Trefusis Point Flushing watching the Falmouth Classics Parade of Sail and Power when I took this photograph of the ships rounding Black Rock between Pendennis and St Mawes, about 2 miles away.
Considering the heat haze it is amazing the lens managed to see them at all.
The history of black rock can be seen in the Falmouth Town coat of arms. The water at the base represents the river Fal and the sea. The rock with the flying red pennant represents the warning flag that flew to warn of the dangers of hidden black rocks beneath the surface.
