Description
Church Cottage is attached to the lychgate of St Clement Church, just one of the picturesque houses in a charming village on the outskirts of Truro in Cornwall.
The lych gate, with it's slate hung room above, was for many generations the Parish Vestry Room, where rates were made and relief granted to the poor. Later it became the village school. From 1840-1872 the downstairs’ room was a pig sty and now, the upstairs room is an artist’s studio.
The hamlet of St Clement, close to the Tresillian river and known in Cornish as Moresk, was once a massive parish encompassing parts of modern Truro but today it is a charming village with a cluster of houses and thatched cottages centred around the historic St. Clements Church.
The cottages along creeks and inlets of the Tresillian River, a main tributary to the River Fal are so beautifully kept, it's like stepping back in time.
