Description
Also known as Prince Edward's Tower, Catchcold Tower is a well preserved half round tower with machicolations. The tower and adjoining wall were probably built in the early 15th century, and added to the existing West Wall. It was built larger and more prominent than earlier towers in order to accommodate larger guns. The name Catchcold was a nickname presumably derived from its exposed position on the western shore.
