Description
Records of Teignmouth date back to 1044, when the town was originally two separate villages. By the 14th century Teignmouth was a significant port, and as a consequence was subject to various attacks. By the 1800s Teignmouth was becoming fashionable for visitors, and to this day the town remains a functioning harbour, sitting comfortably as a town for tourists as well as trade.
With a classic crescent of Georgian buildings, Teignmouth is a real hidden gem on the South Devon coast – both an historic port and classic seaside resort. Teignmouth has all the traditional attractions of a coastal holiday destination, a promenade, Victorian pier, a lido, shops and parks.
