Description
A glimpse of St Michael's Church Teignmouth through the trees.
Records of Teignmouth date back to 1044, when the town was originally two separate villages. By the 14th century Teignmouth was a significant port, and as a consequence was subject to various attacks. By the 1800s Teignmouth was becoming fashionable for visitors, and to this day the town remains a functioning harbour, sitting comfortably as a town for tourists as well as trade.
With a classic crescent of Georgian buildings, Teignmouth is a real hidden gem on the South Devon coast both an historic port and classic seaside resort. Teignmouth has all the traditional attractions of a coastal holiday destination, a promenade, Victorian pier, a lido, shops and parks.
There are two distinct sides to Teignmouth the sea front and the harbour side. Its this beautiful contrast and the fact that everything is within easy reach that makes the town so special.
