Description
The old village of Bosham , pronounced Bozzum, basks with it's feet in the sea at the head of Chichester Harbour. The Harbour is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and lies at the foot of The South Downs National Park.
Shore road is well used by walkers but Shore Road floods at every high tide so there is an elevated pavement “The Trippet” which provides excellent views across the estuary. Most of the cottages along The Trippets and the High Street have gateways and doorways covered with stone moats or boards to keep the sea at bay when high tide strikes.
